Brain–Computer Interfaces

Brain–computer interfaces (BCIs) read the user’s intent directly from the brain, bypassing any injury. BCIs also allow causally probing learning and adaptation in the brain.
Motor Control and Learning

Understanding how populations of neurons, across different brain areas, coordinate their activity during behaviour. And how this supports learning new skills (such as controlling a BCI).
Basal Ganglia and Behaviour

Basal ganglia are a group of subcortical nuclei. Their malfunction leads to conditions like Parkinson’s disease. Neural population activity and BCIs can help us better understand the role of basal ganglia in behaviour.
